Halloween with My Stepsister

About this video

A devil costume, a dorm on night duty, and a knock-knock game where every guess at the door wins a prize.

Haley turns up at the dorm where her stepbrother is working the Halloween night shift, dressed as a devil and very pleased with herself. Both of them are college adults, and their parents are on the road, due around midnight, with orders that he keep an eye on her until then. Three years in the same family, and he has spent most of them carefully not looking her way. She has noticed. So she brings a rule of her own for the long evening: each time someone raps on the door, he has to call trick or treat, and he gets exactly what he chose. Episode 1 is about the setup, the costume and his very shaky poker face.

Why it clicks

The clock does the work: five hours, one room, parents getting closer by the mile. Haley sets the pace with her game, he tries to keep his job and his dignity, and the free episode stops on suggestion and a lot of knocking.

Watch it when: Perfect for a spooky-season night when you want a dare, a deadline and a stepsister who plays to win.
