The King's Chambermaid

About this video

The Queen sent her maid to dress the king every morning, which was either a thoughtful gesture or the worst plan in the castle.

During the seven days of Harvest Court, the king's cold, strategic marriage hasn't left him much to look forward to, until the Queen assigns a kitchen servant to his wardrobe each morning, with no instructions about the pace. In episode 1 he defends her when a courtier calls her clumsy, and she informs him that every midnight she turns down his bed, and he had better be in it. Episode 2 delivers that midnight meeting. She admits to a year of watching him from the kitchen doorway, he offers to protect her, and then a knock comes: the Queen's voice at a locked door.

Why it clicks

Palace intrigue with a velvet-glove flirtation: a king who is polite to servants, a maid with a year of patience, and a Queen who hears everything through the walls. The free episodes stay at bows, locked doors and meaningful pauses.

Watch it when: A candle-lit costume drama for evenings that call for royalty, rules and one very risky midnight appointment.
